About

This site is all about dirt. Yes we are interested in gardening, but the focus here is the soil as a complex living organism, and nurturing it using various forms of composting, including vermiculture (composting with worms), Bokashi cultures, biochar and more. Karma says “what goes around comes around.” Give good things to the soil and it will give good things back. Conventional , agriculture tends to focus on feeding specific crops, usually relying on synthetic fertilizers. Such an approach exploits and depletes the soil. By contrast, regenerative agriculture strives to understand and nurture the soil itself, wholistically, avoiding the use of synthetics, herbicides and insecticides. Little is understood about the soil as a living organism but breath-taking scientific discoveries have revolutionized large segments of modern agriculture over the last two decades. Learning happens best in learning communities. May this becomes such a place.
